A Glimpse Of Old Times

As Rachael Revesz wistfully observes, very little of the New York City that Edith Wharton lived in and wrote about still stands.  Revesz’s essay, complete with some lovely photographs, will give you a sense of the city as it stood late in the nineteenth century headed into the twentieth–the source material behind The Age of Innocence and the novel that many regard as her masterpiece, The House of Mirth.
